WELCOME TO SARAWAK

Sarawak - The Window to Nature's Treasure is a beautiful and friendly state of Malaysia Borneo. Wealthy in its own right of oil and timber revenues, Sarawak is the home of the mythical headhunters of Borneo.

Kuching, the capital, is a modern city boasting several international hotels and 5 stars beach resort only 40 minutes drive from the city centre. Whilst a busy modern city, it still retains its sense of history and romance from the days when the White Rajahs ruled.

The Istana, Fort Margherita, State Museum and the Colonial Law Courts (now Tourism Complex), blended with the influence of the Muslim Malays and energetic Chinese Traders, give Kuching a warm and dynamic feeling.

Only an hour's drive from Kuching is Semengoh Orangutan Centre where efforts are made to preserve these unique and friendly animals from extinction.

Across the South China Sea by boat is Bako National Park, a fascinating coastal park displaying a wide array of flora, including many examples of Pitcher Plants. Here is also an opportunity to view the amazing looking but shy and elusive Proboscis Monkeys.

In Kuching the Sarawak Museum is graced with one of the best colloctions of artefacts representing traditional life-styles in South East Asia, and yet only four hours from the Museum are the Iban people, many of whom still retain their traditional way of living in a "Long house" with extended family unit.

One hour from Kuching lies the prosperous town of MIRI, gateway to the caves of Sarawak. The two best cave systems are the Great Niah Caves and Mulu Caves, one of the World Heritage Sites.

From the luxury of Damai Puri Resort & Spa and the   Kuching Hilton to the basic but comfortable Iban Longhouses, Sarawak offers a range of accommodation and culinary experience to satisfy every traveller.

Too good to be true? Come and see for yourselves and let Inter-Borneo Tours be your companion in your discovery of sarawak's best kept secret.
