 SEA TURTLE VOLUNTEER PROGRAMME

(4Days/3Nights)

 

Day 1:   Kuching - Talang Talang Islands (D)

Pick-up from hotel in Kuching and drive 2 hours to the small coastal town of Sematan. Take a 1 hour boat ride to the Talang Talang Islands. Talang Besar and Talang Kecil are two small islands that serve as sanctuaries for Green and Hawksbill Turtles. Upon arrival at Pulau Talang Besar, you will be brief by the park ranger on the Turtle Volunteer Program which provide opportunity for nature lover to undergo the first hand experience on turtle conservation. Overnight at ranger hostel.

Day 2:   Talang Talang Islands (B/L/D)

Turtle volunteer activities - beach patroling, monitoring turtle nesting activity, tagging and measuring turtles, transferring eggs to the hatchery, releasing hatchlings, data recording and other on-site conservation activities. Overnight at ranger hostel.

Day 3:   Talang Talang Islands (B/L/D)

Turtle volunteer activities - beach patroling, monitoring turtle nesting activity, tagging and measuring turtles, transferring eggs to the hatchery, releasing hatchlings, data recording and other on-site conservation activities. Overnight at ranger hostel.

Day 4:   Talang Talang Islands - Kuching (B/L)

After breakfast, relax on the beach before transfer out by boat to Sematan. Have a simple local lunch before return to Kuching.

Includes   :  Transfers and Tours, English Speaking Guide and Turtle Volunteer Programme fee.
    :  03 nights hostel accommodation (Dormitory).
    :  03 Breakfasts / 03 Lunches / 03 Dinners.
   
Remarks   :  Lightweight clothing, flat comfortable shoes, sun hat and lotion, water bottle,
       mosquito repellent, Torchlight, Raincoat and personal toiletries are suggested.

Note : The Sarawak Sea Turtle Volunteer Program is not suitable for everyone. Accommodation facilities are basic and everyone is expected to help with cooking and cleaning-up. Volunteers join a team of dedicated conservation experts whose mission is to monitor every turtle landing on the island and thus help to preserve Sarawak’s natural heritage. Volunteers can expect a rewarding ‘back to nature’ experience but should bear in mind that the program is not a beach holiday. Be prepare to share room with other volunteer on the Island.
