 Kuching City Tour

A 'must see' introduction to Sarawak! This charming, green and airy city offers a mix of well-preserved British Colonial Buildings and graceful modern architecture. Considered as one of South East Asia’s most pleasant cities, life still unfurls at a leisurely pace for the multi-ethnic population.

Our tour will take visitors pass the main attraction such as the Chinatown and the Cat Monument. Kuching City was granted with city status on 1 August, 1980 and a Chinese was appointed as the Mayor of Kuching. The Cat Monument would dress into different costumes during the major celebration such as Chinese New Year, Malay Hari Raya and the Gawai Dayak. Tua Pek Kong Temple built 1876 enjoys a good ‘feng shui’ and it attracts many Chinese Devotees to come to pray for prosperity. Main Bazaar, where the early Chinese Traders built their typical shop-houses. Today these families still pursue traditional occupation such as tin smith, gold smith, carpentry and petty trading. Chinese History Museum traces the Chinese community in Sarawak including the migration of Chinese to Sarawak, geographical distribution, early pioneers, traditional trading activities, formation of trade and community association and the political involvement in modern and multiracial Sarawak. Walk along the charming Kuching Waterfront to view the Istana, former palace of the White Rajahs and Historical Fort Margherita. Colonial Building which include Square Tower, Court House, Charles Brooke Memorial, Clock Tower and the Round Tower. The highlight of the city tour is a visit to the Sarawak Museum built in 1891 houses ethnographic collection, nature history and a section of the oil industry in Sarawak.
