Selingan Turtle Island Selingan Turtle Island


We combine two of the best wildlife attractions in Sabah, the Orangutans at Sepilok and turtle viewing at the remote Selingan Island lying some 40 km north of Sandakan Port. The Selingan Turtle Island Park comprises of 3 islands - Selingan, Bakkungan and Gulisan. It covers an area of 1,740 hectares which include the surrounding coral reefs and sea and is famous for its Green and Hawksbill Turtles which lay their eggs nightly on the beach of the island.


Day 1:   Sandakan- Selingan Turtle Island

This morning, transfer from your hotel to Sandakan jetty where you continue your journey by speedboat for 60 minutes to Selingan Island. Check in at the chalet and the rest of the day is yours to explore the island, swim, sun bath and snorkel. After dinner, following the Park Rangers to the beach front to see the endangered green turtles come ashore to lay their eggs; the transferring of eggs to the hatchery and the release of baby turtles from the hatchery into the sea. We spend the night in twin sharing room with common bath. (L/D)


Day 2:   Selingan- Sepilok Orangutan 

After breakfast, return to Sandakan and transfer by road to Sepilok Orangutan Rehabilitaion Centre to witness the feeding of Orangutans at 10 am. Following the visit, proceed to sandakan town for lunch and a brief city tour covering Australian War Memorial Centre, Botanical Garden and Canopy Walk before transferring to Sandakan airport for your departure.
