Itinerary

Embark on a breathtaking 5-day journey through the Mulu National Park and surrounding regions, experiencing the wonders of the world’s largest cave systems, dense jungles, and rich cultural encounters. From the awe-inspiring Deer Cave and Clearwater Cave to trekking in pristine forests and visiting an Iban longhouse, this tour combines adventure, nature, and culture for a truly unforgettable experience.

This tour can be conducted without the overnight stay in the longhouse

Day 1:

• Arrive at Mulu Airport and transfer to Mulu National Park / Marriott Mulu Resort

• Walk the Deer Cave wooden walkway (3 km) through peat swamp, alluvial flats, and limestone outcrops

• Visit Lang Cave near Deer Cave

• Relax on the open field and witness the bat exodus at sunset (weather permitting)

• Dinner served

Day 2:

• Breakfast at Park Café / Resort

• Check out and embark on a longboat ride to Penan Settlement

• Explore Penan handicrafts and support the local community

• Visit Wind Cave and Clearwater Cave (Southeast Asia’s longest cave system, 75+ km)

• Picnic lunch at the riverbank

• Trek 8 km to Camp 5

• Dinner and overnight at Camp 5

Day 3:

• Early breakfast at Camp 5

• Begin 2.5 km ascent of Gunung Api (approx. 4 hours)

• Enjoy spectacular views and observe diverse plant and insect species

• Packed lunch at the observatory point

• Descend to Camp 5 by 16:00

• Dinner and overnight at Camp 5

Day 4:

• Breakfast at Camp 5

• Trek through lowland forest to Terikan Riverbank (packed lunch provided)

• Longboat ride down Terikan and Medalam Rivers

• Arrive at Iban Longhouse

• Dinner and overnight at the longhouse

Day 5:

• Breakfast at longhouse

• Check out and travel by longboat to Nanga Medamit

• Overland transfer to Limbang Airport or hotel

Highlights:

• Explore the Deer Cave and Lang Cave, home to millions of bats

• Cruise rivers by longboat and visit Wind Cave & Clearwater Cave

• Trek through pristine jungle to Camp 5 and Gunung Api

• Experience authentic Iban longhouse living

• Witness stunning sunsets, wildlife, and jungle scenery
